One of the things that I loved about Obama, and what initially turned me off from the Republican party almost completely, was the fact that he worked hard to try to bridge the gap between Democrats and Republicans - and the Republicans rejected nearly every proposal out of hand, simply because of who was proposing them. And the GOP reaction to the 2021 insurrection was the final nail in the coffin - they have no moral standing, all they care about is taking power and keeping it - and want to tear down their opposition along the way. At the end of the day, if your opposition just wants to see you crash and burn, trying to work with them is pointless - get down to doing right by the country, and hold their feet to the fire whenever they try to block you on doing that. That's the only way you can win against someone like this - by going for attack over governance, they've already lost. You just need to make sure everyone else realizes it.
