The Sam Harris quote, I believe you will be interested that you may have misinterpreted his words. You wanted to share interesting/inspiring words to think and act on to your devoted audience, and I believe that means you may want them to take part in the full impact the quote can have. The way I see it is: profundity requires attention, that (profundity, I think) is the cash value of time. The point as I see it differently is that the reward (the "cash value", an insurance term) is profundity. The way your title reads, it sounds like the reward is your own attention, but attention is the tool/skill we can employ to achieve our cash value: profundity. The reward is to feel a wonderful personal sense of profundity. That's a lot more enticing reward to aim for than attention, lol. Regardless of correctness, I appreciate your bringing this quote to our attention, it helped me further reflect on it and find new insight. Thanks!

Thank you for these deep reflections, this is very refreshing for the mind and the heart, and very inspiring :) I have not yet read Marie Kando's book but I have heard of it. I have been able to experiment with personal development techniques where we are taught to clear our houses / apartments as well as our mind. And I have done a lot of cleaning for a few years and that also plays on our way of seeing and experiencing things. Buddhism has also helped me a lot since August 2019, meditations alone for me were not enough, there was also a teaching as a philosophical approach to help me observe myself, understand my mechanisms (a bit like marble machine ;)), how it works and then in truth who I really am to also understand others .... Very lucky to have meet your music, bands and this channel, take care and good luck :)

If you believe in God and build a relationship with Him, you don't fear dying because you know you're just going Home to God and Heaven. But you have to have that relationship with Him in order to enter Heaven. The world is a huge mess, so God will be intervening soon to show us our souls as He sees them, to wake us up, to make us realise what we need to change in order to reach Heaven.

Thank you for visiting Italy. I live in the region where you spent your holiday. We are now in dramatic situation about tourism and we hope that you enjoyed your stay and that you will come again, as a tourist but also as an artist (for a concert on a mountain top maybe?) when all af this will be over. There is a summer festival called "Suoni delle Dolomiti", could you be interested? Musician use to play at dawn in mountain locations, and people hike at night to hear them.

You are saying, that after 5 years the issue of problem-solving gets harder and harder for you to find joy in the process. I can see why you feel like that, but objectively, when I look at the problems you solve now and the problems you solved in the early MMX or even MM1 there is absolutely no comparison. Now you solve the problems elegantly, quickly, more efficiently and the problems themselves are way complex. Perhaps it feels harder for you to find excitement because you don't notice the vast improvement you have done in your problem-solving methodology. Just look at how powerful you are now in comparison to 5 years ago!
bzqp2
bzqp2 10 kuukautta sitten
Also the complexity of the problems you tackle have grown exponentially - yet you still can cope with the pace, which is impressive. That's something to be proud of.

I have been watching all your videos and I have to say, I love seeing this come together and your passion for this project. I'm a mechanical engineer myself, and I understand that love of creating new and interesting things. As I scroll through the comments I'm a little disappointed that I haven't seen anybody explaining their faith in Jesus and why all of these questions you stated and struggles you have are simply answered by Him. Yeah, I realize that about 90% of the people reading this just scrolled past it as soon as they saw "Jesus". Yes I realize that it puts me in a category with a whole bunch of misguided angry religious people. Sorry, but when you know the truth you just have to share it despite how you may be judged. It's just too friggin life changing to not share. Anyways, I totally identify with being controlled by your emotions. Letting your thoughts go crazy and take you into depressions and highs back and forth. Periods of productivity and feeling proud of yourself, followed by a vicious cycle of unproductiveness and self deprecation. I often feel like I have to keep myself busy and productive to feel good about myself. If I can't solve a problem it only throws me into more emotional turmoil. Getting to the whole "Jesus solves everything" here, just bear with me. What is behind all of this emotional turmoil is two things: What standard to I hold myself to, and what do I value as important? For instance if I feel that being productive is important, and that the standard I have to meet is always higher than where I'm at, I will never be satisfied no matter how hard I work. Because the fact is I will never get there. You could look at this dissatisfaction as a good thing because it drives you to be better, but in fact you are just stuck being dissatisfied forever and the thing that you thought would make you satisfied if you worked hard enough never did. Wouldn't it be nice to make actual progress, reaching the same goals, while also being satisfied with where you are at in every situation? What being a Christian means is admitting that there is a standard for everything, and that the standard is impossible for us. It means letting go of all that we hold as important and admitting that God has it under control and we don't. That we are broken, lost, corrupt, selfish people who need some serious help, not just to fix what's wrong with us, but to enjoy life to the fullest without getting in our own way. We put our relationship with God at the center, and everything else just clicks. And then you can finally get back to what you love doing, not with an attitude of dissatisfaction, trying to distract yourself by being busy, and trying to fill a need that can never be met, but with a drive of excitement, enjoyment, wonder, peace, and satisfaction with the journey. So that's what I hope for you as you move forward with this incredible project. It truly is a work of art, I believe on par with any work by any other famous artists, judging by the work you put into it, the passion you have, and of course the beauty of both the final product and the process. But I might be biased 🙂.

Making that shift from being identified as a person towards identifying with wide open spacious vibrant awareness, manifesting as human, is a profound, life changing experience. This is our true nature, what we already are and always were. On can familiarize with this step by step, 'short moments many times'. The good news is, its doable for lazy people too, even so with a creative mind, see the space which brings forth thoughts. You can practice this during whatever you are doing, not necessary sitting on a cushion. Everything can be your meditation in this approach.

To be honest, I personally don´t care if your MMX videos are good, I am just happy that you share your experience with us here on FIpost. I am very fascinated by the work you put into the 3D-Designs especially, as I am a 3D Artist myself. The precision always baffles me.... I am specialized in architecture, and let´s say, a door is placed 1 centimeter to far to the right... I just don´t care, you don´t really see that in the final render... I once had a conversation about that with Marius on Twitch, he basically told me that an 1 cm error is basically like a "Grand Canyon" for your extremely precise craftsmanship.

I'm not interested in playing in the snow so I would have chosen to do something completely different and my choice of books would have been completely different too but it's interesting to see what he chose to do with his time off and I'm grateful that he did decide to take a break.

I am sure my comment will get swallowed among the other 542 (for now) but it's been a while I wanted to take the opportunity to thank you for these awesome videos and building the coolest music instrument on the planet =D!! You are a wonderful musician and have amazing creative skills (snowboarding too). I also wanted to tell you that it's wonderful to watch your videos and please take your time to finish the marble machine (I'm gonna miss them while saving money to buy a ticket for a concert!). These years spent building the MMX are precious in your life, the challenges you encounter today will become different with a world tour and you might miss this time. Just enjoy what you're doing and no need to apologize about things taking time, the more time it takes the more beautiful the music :). Take as many breaks as you need, a good life is important. You're so interesting Martin. I am also a thinker who love's philosophy and agree very much with what you say. By the way, congratulations on your successful jump! All it takes in life is to believe you can do something, but most of us have taken on the belief that we have limitations. One of my favorite sayings is "it is better to set a high goal and fail at achieving it, than set a low one and be successful". I must admit that I wish I could live by that myself! LOL

I like your honestity. You share your thoughts about the need of being mindful, of being less hooked to phone. Through a video on youtube. I feel you are aware of this contradiction, but you prioritize the health of your supporters to the n° of views and subs. As if saying saying 'shut my video, go listen yourself'. And that's a demonstration of respect and humanity.

Wow what a setting. Great video wonderful ideas for grabbing ahold of your life. I look forward to seeing & hearing the MMX however, I’m 70 with a bad heart no pressure but I may not have 10 years. I love your music and want more. I love your live shows. I worry about getting the band members back. You all just fit so well. The MMX would be great but as a retired Product Manager if you were heading up a project that I was managing and I heard a new 10 year window at a planing meeting I would fire the engineering manager or possibly close the project down. Unless there are issues I don’t see you are only months away from getting it done.

Hey Martin, good to see you clearing your mind. My suggestion to your dilemma (making a good video or making progress on the MMX) is: Start recording and forget the cam. Focus at the MMX and just let us participate at the progress. A better suggestion would be: record the work at the MMX four days, cut and edit the WW-Video one days including the time to upload and take two days of with “lighter” brain work. Go outside and stroll around. Let the nature take the flow. Get new energy for the next parts but try to think on nothing. If you ever struggle around for what’s more important you’ll get exhausted for sure. Don’t let these minor things take control of you. I like your videos and I did laugh a lot but I also could feel your struggles like they’re mine. I admire your skills and yourself as person.

Only problem I see with Kondo's "No clutter" thing is for Makers. Basically, a lot of a Maker's clutter is actually useful stuff. You never know when you might need a large tub that an old barrel could work for, or a random nut and bolt might work exactly as you need for something strange. If all you have is clean, organized things, it can often be difficult to spark _ideas_ in someone who makes things.
