The coronavirus pandemic has upended life and caused tremendous damage, leaving many to rethink their priorities. Below is a story of a special agent who was assigned to monitor Falun Gong practitioners. Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a mind-body practice based on the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. It has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) since July 1999. * * * My friend Yang, a Falun Gong practitioner, has a retail store that closes every day at 10 p.m. One day in late December last year, a middle-aged man who spoke a different dialect started chatting with him. The man showed up every day for the next three weeks. Yang talked to him and occasionally mentioned some facts about the CCP's persecution of Falun Gong. Before long, Yang realized that the man was a special agent. “You know Falun Gong practitioners live by the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance,” Yang said. “We even cherish those police officers who persecute us and we wish them well because we know they do what they do because they have been misled by the CCP’s lies.” The fellow did not return for quite a while after that. A little while later, the Wuhan coronavirus epidemic started, and it soon spread to our area. Yang didn't see the fellow for a long time, until around March or April of this year, when he showed up and said to Yang, “I just came back from a trip to Wuhan.” At that time, Wuhan was under draconian lockdown, and the fact he could easily get in and out of Wuhan confirmed Yang’s suspicion that the man worked for the authorities. “You know, many, many people died in Wuhan. Why was the official death toll only about 3,000?” asked Yang. When the fellow asked Yang how many he thought had really died, Yang replied, “I’m not sure. But I heard people say the number would be closer to the truth if you added a zero [making it 30,000], or it could be even higher.” “What you said is true,” the man said. “We just cannot trust those published statistics.” Yang asked if he had heard about vice premier Sun Chunlan's visit to Wuhan on March 5. Some of the local residents were unhappy with the political charade and yelled out, “It’s all fake!” The fellow admitted he was actually there during the vice premier's visit and saw people yelling at Sun. He said, “You know the CCP has lied so much and does not care about our lives one bit.” He said he had seen the CCP's true colors after its numerous lies about the pandemic. “Can you help me and my family quit the CCP organizations on The Epoch Times website like you mentioned in the past?” he asked. After Yang helped him quit the CCP, he revealed why he had come to Yang's store for three weeks in a row late last year. Before his first visit, the local police had been monitoring practitioners, including Yang, for over four months and they had also ransacked Yang's home. The agent said the police had planned a mass arrest of local practitioners between the Chinese New Year (in February 2020) and the “Two Sessions” (the annual meeting of the People's Congress and the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference). With the epidemic, however, the CCP did not hold its meetings in early March 2020 as scheduled. He said he knew that practitioners often talked about China’s divine culture, such as “Good is rewarded with good and evil incurs evil,” but that he did not believe it in the past. He said, “Having been through the pandemic, however, I began to rethink lots of things.” “Can I give you a copy of Zhuan Falun (the main teachings of Falun Gong)? That way you can find out more,” suggested Yang, noticing the officer’s positive attitude. “Actually I have a copy already and I have been reading it,” replied the officer. He said that, in order to monitor Falun Gong, he also visited the Minghui website very often. The officer said that, in the past, he did not believe the miraculous stories published on Minghui.org. “But in Wuhan, I witnessed many such instances. Some residents were infected by the coronavirus, but they recovered quickly simply by reciting ‘Falun Dafa is good’ and ‘Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good’,” he explained. “I saw that with my own eyes.” The officer visited Yang again recently. “Do you know why there have been so many cases of infection in New York?” he asked Yang. The officer said he believed that it was because New York has been badly infiltrated by the CCP. He admitted that he himself was sent to New York a few times on infiltration assignments. In the end, he thanked Yang and other Falun Gong practitioners. “What you’ve done is really remarkable! Your informational materials tell people the facts and they are well written. I will also see what I can do to help.”
