Heh, you hear it AGAIN at that """"(support) technician"""" he is in India -such specific informations AS "How the hell that works" did not arrive there yet! xD ...especially (On TOP of the things) people from india ussualy ALMOST sound speaking english, but (most of them - NOT ALL of them - it would be rood to objectivise in such scale xD) totally lack the (processing) power to understand even simple "discusion" or attempt for "pimpointing" of "where the rub lies" :-D

While watching this it reminds me of my experience with Alienware support- bought an X51 a long time ago and it arrived with terrible wifi signal. I spent a long time on support trying to figure out why it was so bad (not knowing much about desktops). After a long time on hold they sent out an engineer who spent a while looking at it and messing with settings etc. In the end he told me that due to the case being metal the wifi signal wasn’t reaching the PC, which was roughly 15 meters and maybe 1 interior wall away from the router. I wasn’t happy but accepted it and kept my 15m cable plugged in.. 2 months later I open the case and have a look around myself and find that the wifi chip has two tiny white cables connected.. one had come lose. Total waste of hours of time.. all because I didn’t know what I was looking for. Years later, the X51 is sat in a carrier bag under the stairs.. shame!

I am currently helping someone buy a new computer. Considering the excellent support from maingear and the fact that the CEO actually posted in this comment section I am seriously considering telling them to give this company a look. Unfortunately I think they just want to go to best buy and pick one vs having one shipped. I also told them if they ordered all the parts from new egg and shipped it to me I would put it together for free if they paid the shipping to their house.

Dude this is actually happening to me right now. My gf bought a $3000 laptop 5 months ago. It won't turn on and has this exact post code. They are trying to send me a motherboard, but I have been waiting for 2 weeks! It's been a nightmare. I have a string of emails that would run around the block and have escalated to mangers, supervisors. I started spamming all their employees on linkedin and they're VP was the first person to message me back. I wish I was making this up

Nice indeed A++ for the last one :) Thanks for the video. Customer Support is also an ART and should be done only by those who have a Pasion and full understanding of computers so they can explain it easy to understand as in the last MAIN system. Two thumbs up and sadly your experience matches some of mine with Dell.

I've walked hundreds of people through reseating components inside the tower over the phone, RAM, HDDs, etc. Even in laptops when the RAM is under the keyboard. I would blame the majority of the issues experienced on the lack of soft skills training by their employer. We (Dell North America) had a 6 week course for training hard skills and soft skills. Continued education on new systems and software with constant mentorship for both. There is two classifications for components in any system a CRU (customer replaceable unit) and FRU (field replaceable unit). All CRUs are deemed to be replaceable by a customer over the phone. RAM is a CRU. The support website has all of the teardowns for all Dell models to be able to completely tear down and reassemble a unit. I have no concept of why that Dell Tech was so abysmal, QA score 5; assuming they opened the call correctly, "Thank you for choosing Dell, my name is XXX. how may I help you today?" The last two techs were much more aligned with the support level that I and my local colleagues tried to deliver. Last guy knew what was up, excellent soft skills combined with hard skills. I'd pass that tech with a 100 QA score.

The thing with tech support is that your performance is measured by how short your call is, this is why most will just tell you to send your PC back and then end the call.
